Armed forces Charities

We provide a forum for research and exchange of information on all aspects of past metallurgy, in Britain and worldwide. We also aim to promote the understanding and conservation of all aspects of the heritage relevant to metallurgy. Our interests range from prehistory to the present, and from extraction and smelting to all aspects of metalworking and the use of metals in society.

The band plays many concerts to the public in our community throughout the year. We also perform some charity concerts, raising money for organizations such as the RNLI, Colchester and Ipswich Hospital Charity and The Royal British Legion. We compete at National Level at the Regional Area Championships and National Finals Brass Band Championships.

To advance the health of injured Armed Forces personnel, and their carers, who have been severely injured and are in financial need, by the provision, maintenance and improvement of holiday accommodation.Our aim is to raise sufficient funds through donation, sponsorship and fundraising events, to enable the purchase and running of a bespoke log cabin.

A sum up to 25% of annual income may be dispensed for the general purposes of the school. The residual income is to provide awards of scholarships, exhibitions & financial assistance to beneficiaries who are persons of either sex under the age of 25 years and who are, or at any time have been, in attendance at the school and who, in the opinion of the trustees, are in need of financial assistance.

The Charity provides financial assistance to needy Burton Latimer Ex-Service people and their dependants of all ages. This assistance includes help towards apprenticeships, re-training and higher educational costs.

Responding to queries on history of individuals and the regiment, providing lectures on military history, preservation & cataloguing regimental records and artefacts of the Liverpool Scottish, arranging displays of regimental collection.

The advancement of education for the public benefit by the study of the roman army, the production of roman armour and equipment and providing educational displays to the general public at historical sites museums schools and colleges

Peterborough Sea Cadets offers 10- 18yr olds a wide range of activities loosly based on Royal Navy traditions. These include rowing, visits to warships, training courses at Royal Navy training establishments such as HMS Raleigh, on board training in seamanship, navigation, first aid, team building exercises, D of E etc. Peterborough Unit also provides the Mayors Guard at civil occasions.

The Sea Cadet Corps is a uniformed youth activity, that is not pre service, open to all young people aged 10 to 18.The aim of the corps is to help young people towards responsible adulthood by encouraging valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct, through a programme of educational and sporting activities, using a nautical theme based on the customs of the Royal Navy.

The church holds 3 weekly services, healing evenings, Friday healing, awareness groups. Monies raised help maintain the church. We hold events in order to help with the costs of running a church as generally the offerings would not cover this. Our Harvest Thanksgiving service food offerings are also donated to the homeless. Our Remembrance service donations are shared with The Royal British Legion

The Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) aims to help young people towards responsible adulthood by encouraging valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct, using a nautical theme based on the traditions of the Royal Navy. Specific activities include all forms of boatwork, leadership and inter-personal development through teamwork, seamanship skills, engineering, catering and sports.

Village Hall providing a venue for Playgroups/toddlers and various user groups such as Yorkshire Countrywomens Association, Gardening Club and Parish Council meeting place etc. We also cater for private events such as children's birthday parties, village quizzes and other entertainment and a yearly memorial for the airmen of the RAF and Canadian airforces lost from our local airfield during WW2.

To support the men and women, and their dependents, of the Inns of Court & City Yeomanry, and its predecessor reserve army units in their training, welfare, and efficiency. And to provide benevolent support for those who have served in the unit. Also to maintain the regimental museum and other chattels at 10 Stone Buildings, Lincoln's Inn.

We actively support members of the Military Provost Staff Corps (MPSC) Association who are serving in the Adjutant General's Corps (Military Provost Staff) (MPS), and Veterans of the MPSC and AGC(MPS) with grants for benevolence, sports and adventurous training activities. We stay in contact with our Association's Veterans and widows and produce one Regimental magazine per year.

We provide a wide range of Welfare support and facilities for both serving and retired members of the RAF and their dependents. We also provide respite care using one of the homes throughout the UK operated by the main RAFA charity. We are finding that the area we cover is constantly increasing due to adjacent branch closures, due to the age of members; many of who served in WWII.

A voluntary youth organisation for boys and girls aged 10 - 18 years. It provides a range of activities, including sport, sailing and boat work, within a caring discipline based on the high standards of the Royal Navy, to which the young people can develop in self confidence, leadership, and a responsibility to work alone or within a team.
