The object for which the association is established is to promote, through the comradeship engendered by its members, the welfare by charitable means of all serving and former members of our Air Forces, their spouses and dependants together with the widows and widowers and dependants of those who died whilst serving or subsequently.

Money is distributed each Christmas to residents of Thurton who have lived in the Parish for at least 5 years and are either widows/widowers or are in receipt of a retirement pension (only one payment is paid per household).

Impact Sierra Leone aims to make an impact in the lives of children in Sierra Leone through the provision of good quality education. We do this by providing access to primary and secondary education through our locally built schools called 'Maranatha Schools'. Maranatha Schools support children from impoverished communities and those who are orphaned as a result of war, death or disease.

The charities main purpose is to provide financial benefit to widows, widowers and orphans residing within the parish, disbursements are made annually in December, last year (2012) fifteen villagers received payments. The charities income comes from rent of agricultural land and interest from investments. Records of payments go back as far as 1841.

The trust gives grants (not loans) to individuals living in or with some connection to the Berekum District assembly area of Brong-Ahafo, Ghana. This enables them to start up their own business to provide an income for themselves and their family. In appropriate circumstances, grants are also given to enable education or training to be undertaken by orphans.

BENEVOLENT FUND IS AVAILABLE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE RAOB MERSEY PROVINCE WHO ARE IN FULL FINANCIAL COMPLIANCE. THE FUND ALSO ASSISTS WIDOWS IN NECESSITOUS CIRCUMSTANCES.
