The charity provides wide ranging financial support to individuals and organisations in the promotion of animal welfare. The trustees have a wide discretion and the area of benefit is not confined in any way. The trustees have currently adopted a policy for the long term existence of the charity.

All our members have a physical and/or sensory impairment and live and/or work in Calderdale. We engage with service providers and commissioners, mainly in local authority, health and transport sectors. By involving significant numbers of disabled people, we can have a big impact on decision makers. By using this model, disabled people are empowered and can influence policy and service delivery.

The charity provides about 50 different learning groups to advance the education of the public and in particular the education of older people no longer in full time gainful employment in Northwood and its surrounding area.
