Although not exclusively, the Charity was formed to provide a vehicle for charitable disbursements by the Founder and members of his family who may wish to make use of the facility. Each donor who subscribes funds to the charity is kept advised of the balance of his account, and is free to propose or make donations to such charitable causes or needy individuals as he or she may wish to benefit.

The Smartmatic Foundation was established in 2015 for general charitable purposes; having been incorporated as a UK based Charitable Incorporated Organisation , its Trustees have yet to decide on the precise scope and purpose of its charitable objectives and as such have received no income and undertaken no charitable activity during its the current reporting period.

There has been increased and renewed vision for Rebuild Trust. At present there is someone involved with and being supported by, the Trust in Nepal, studying sustainable development at the university in Kathmandu. It is hoped that in the future the trust will be able to closely support the Nepalese people. The Trust would still like to operate in other countries affected by natural disaster
