We are working in Partnership with Iraqi universities and UK universities to provide knowledge and expertise to change outcomes for children in Iraq. We are focusing on education, social emotional well being, disabilities and trauma.

The charities activities include dance displays for public benefit, bag packs in local supermarkets, raffle, hosting fairs, cake stalls, collecting wish tokens, easy fund raising, table top sales and ceili nights.

The provision of Almshouse accommodation in the Gateshead area

The charity has been set up in preparation for a transfer of assets of a community centre and land from Newcastle City Council as part of their divestment policy. The Charity is currently dormant awaiting Council decisions on the terms of that transfer.The Community Centre is currently managed by our charity Westerhope and District Community Association registered charity number 1044378.

At the AGM in April 2024, new trustees were appointed. They have updated the objects of the charity which will include a community facility in the village of Wark.At the meeting on 19th March 2025, the 'object' was altered to comply with the Commissions recommendation.The AGM was held on 7th July 2025. All trustees attended. It was agreed that planning permission was now to be obtained.

School fund raising

The charity is committed to extending the music provision in local schools and within the community as a whole.

The provision of anti-retroviral and/or other medical treatments.The provision or assistance to provide projects to grow nutritious food, to develop initiatives to involve local communities for such provision.Support for members of the community affected directly or indirectly through HIV/Aids so as to improve their conditions of life and the relief in case of financial distress of dependants.

Addressing food poverty and Holiday Hunger within Tyne & Wear.

Slow Shopping's aims are to relieve people in the UK & overseas who live with mental &/or physical disabilities by the provision of training and other support services to enable them to shop, visit or attend a variety of settings in order to enhance their experience by maintaining and developing their independence, confidence and dignity. It also collaborates in research in this field.

TWHF promotes the conservation of heritage within the North East, offering support and guidance to those wishing to protect a significant heritage feature ie. something that links a community to its past; a building, artefact, memorial, statue, street or pathway, view or natural feature providing a reminder of a former historic or industrial past, eg the current Lowick Pilgrim Initiative.

Influencing/Commissioning the development and management of Exhibition and Brandling Parks in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Newcastle Philosophy Society runs a number of regular events including lectures and conversation groups. The Newcastle Philosophy Society also works in conjunction with other local organisations to run one-off events including lectures and conversation groups. We have finances available for others wishing to pursue the running of such events.

Marygate House Trust was founded in 1970 to enable groups of people or individuals to come to Holy Island and carry out religious, educational or cultural programme. It is also part of the Trust?s remit to assist those members of staff who usually remain with the Trust for between one and two years to discern where their future career path lies and to help enable them to try and achieve that goal.
