The Chris Shoesmith Global Foundation helps both backpackers and their families, we do this by giving honest help and advice as to any dangers that can be encountered whilst travelling. We also assist backpackers and their families should something go wrong such as; muggings, loss of any possessions, missing persons abroad and also bereavements.

During the year we raised a further £250 and made financial awards to two students, one studying for an MSc Micropalaeontology at the University of Birmingham, and one on a one week long specific course about Ostracods in Jena, Germany. The latter was unable to attend due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, so the grant will roll over

Hyphen-21 promotes activities and skills which strengthen community. These include 'Poems for the wall,' a project which supplies poem-posters free of charge for display in schools, libraries and healthcare settings.
