To assist with the welfare and to relieve the suffering of animals (excluding birds, fishes and reptiles) throughout the UK and NI who are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage, including assisting those who undertake research into the causes or treatment of suffering of animals.

The main areas of work are for medical research and ecological conservation. Grants made in each year are split into approximately equal proportions between each area. Generally the trust makes grants to institutions and not to individuals. Projects outside the UK are not considered. Projects in the Godalming and Surrey areas are given special interest.

Resources & professional development activities for professionals working with children with VI. Website with access to the American Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness. Professional networks, annual national conference, representation to Government on issues about the education of children with VI. Funds provide research. VIEW acts as a partner for relevant teacher training courses.

NATECLA is the national forum and professional organisation for teachers of English for adult speakers of other languages (ESOL) and community languages in the UK. We provide high quality training for teachers through conferences, webinars, online forums and a journal. We provide expert advice to government bodies and other agencies, and campaign to promote ESOL and community languages.
