Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People specialises in providing community support, engagement and equipment for service users who are deaf, deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing. We also provide other services such as sign language training and deaf awareness.

Counselling is STRICTLY by appointment and we DO NOT provide emergency services. We work with those aged 13-18-up to 25 with a SEND. We don't offer home visits.

THE IMMEDIATE CURRENT FOCUS IS ON CHILDREN IN INDIA WHO ARE RECEIVING TREATMENT FOR CANCER, AND WHO STAY WITH ONE PARENT OR BOTH IN CHARITABLE RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION CENTRES DURING THEIR COURSE OF TREATMENT. THOSE CENTRES ARE RUN BY A SISTER CHARITY IN INDIA.

GYGYC offers age-specific peer support groups for Young Carers aged 5 to 21 who are caring for their parents or supporting their parents in caring for a sibling. Through targeted activities that offer support, respite, fun and learning opportunities, facilitated by Youth Workers offering support with their coping mechanisms and strategies to improvement their physical and mental health.
