Christian Religious Activities

The purposes of the Church are the advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the Basis of Faith primarily but not exclusively within Jennyfield, Harrogate and the surrounding neighborhood and such other charitable purposes as shall, in the opinion of the charity trustees, put into practice the Christian faith in accordance with the Basis of Faith.

A Passion for Life serves local evangelical churches across the UK by encouraging and equipping them for a lifetime of evangelism and promoting regular times of nationwide gospel mission to bring the saving message of the Lord Jesus to communities in every part of the country.

Each Sunday both our morning and evening services are open to the public for Christian worship. We also hold midweek meetings for Bible study and prayer, a childrens club, and a mums and tots group. We take a monthly service at the local care home, and our pastor takes school assemblies.

There are weekly meetings on Sunday and meetings (prayer meeting, coffee morning, toddler group, youth club) during the week. The church facilities are used by community groups and other organisations such as Rainbows and Brownies, an Art Group, Birmingham Chinese Evangelical Church and Good News For Everyone for regular meeting weekly and holding administrative and training meetings.

The promotion of the ecclesiastical parish of St George's, Ovenden in North Halifax involving the whole mission of the church - pastoral, evangelical, social and ecumenical. Management and development of youth/community and outreach work within the parish and beyond. Also the maintenance responsibilities for St George's Church and graveyard, Church Hall and St George's House and grounds.

Providing food and accommodation to homeless people within the local catchment area. By March 2023, we have completed 80 nights of homeless sheltered provision including beds, meals, showers and clothes washing drying support, packed lunches, assistance with housing applications etc and signposting

The Church meets on Sundays for worship and on weekdays in small groups, seeking by preaching, prayer and education to apply the Scriptures to every area of life. The Church undertakes various activities to build community among its members and for the benefit of those from the locality. Financial support is also given to various missionary and other charitable organisations.

We currently have groups which include Sunday school for children aged 4-11 and Youth Ministry for ages 11-18. For new converts we offer specially designed classes called Milk to Meat. We also have a Women's and Men's Ministry which provide a support network for spiritual growth. We encourage our congregation to reach out to members of their families and also to the local community.
