We implement sustainable programs which aim to raise literacy standards and give individuals every possible chance to receive a quality education. Promoting and teaching literacy in early childhood years is not only key to success at school but also later in life.

We provide coaching and development to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them find employment and build their confidence and sense of self worth. We run the Spear Programme for up to 90 young people aged 16-24 each year. The programme comprises 6 weeks of training followed by a year of support. 75% of our young people are in work or further training 12 months after the course.

Oaks Trust runs four food banks across Brighton & Hove and Shoreham. We are part of a nationwide network, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Each of these food banks serve their respective community areas with emergency food parcels, designed to meet a crisis need, as well as signposting beneficiaries towards other key agencies and services.

Children of the Dump (registered as ASCT) has worked in the Philippines since 1975, providing loving care, family support and education to hundreds of deprived children. We currently have over 300 children in our care, many of whom have been abused, abandoned or neglected. We have a residential children's home , a school for 4 - 6 year olds and an educational scholarship scheme.

Ray's Playhouse aims to provide low cost daily accessible stay and play sessions to parents and carers for under 5s within a highly deprived area of the Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. It also provides services support and links to other family services within the area and local employment with back to work schemes within the Playhouse.

We focused on the Sustainable Communities Act. This involves policies to combat the joint problems of poverty and environmental decline; and sets up a mechanism whereby those policies will be driven by local communities. We also made grants for the promotion of the Act.We funded an investigation into the social and environmental effects of energy policy.

Two Rivers Community pantry provide support to people in poverty in Goole and the surrounding area, this includes providing a food bank and community supermarket, working with the East Riding Food Poverty Alliance, providing learning opportunities and referring to other agencies.
