Arts Charities That specialise in Literature

Fundraising via PTA to raise additional funds for infant school that can be used for new equipment books, enhancements to facilities. Fundraising activities include Christmas auction, quiz, easter & summer fayres and additional ad-hoc events throughout the year.

One Fund provides grants for educational purposes to people under 25 years old and a second provides grants to people in financial hardship. These are restricted to inhabitants of the civil parish of Sedbergh. A third owns a building rented by Cumbria CC as a library,the income can be used to give grants for charitable purposes in Sedbergh and its neighbourhood. A fourth fund owns an almshouse.

Support of Launde Abbey Retreat House. We also publish a magazine, Launde Leaves, twice a year and run an annual retreat for members of the Friends.

The Barnes Literary Society offers a regular opportunity for people with an interest in literature to hear and question writers and speakers on a wide variety of literary topics. We also organise visits to places of literary interest and offer a forum for the discussion of literary topics.

The Yandisa Foundation provides educational grants to children/young people living in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Supplementary to this, we also provide ancillary support to our beneficiaries which may include stationary, books, school uniforms and shoes, food, water, electricity, extramural and leisure activities.

Our charities funds are available only to the residents of the parish of Great Bardfield or to groups and societies benefitting such residents. The trustees meet 4 times per year. We advertise these dates in our village magazine and on the village website. Applications are considered and if approved are paid within a few daysof each meeting. Our annual report is given at the parish assembly.

Share Skipton aims to create a more sustainable, sharing Skipton by setting up and running a library of things, repair cafes and other initiatives promoting sharing and a circular economy. We are volunteer-led and rely on donations of things for our library. A library of things enables people to borrow useful items at low cost, which helps reduce consumption, waste, use of resources, and CO2.

Our main purpose is to advance the Christian faith through the teachings of the Bible and preaching the gospel. We hold Bible talks, family sessions, praise meetings, Bible study groups and Sunday School at our hall, plus monthly talks at Watford Central Library. We make a regular dispatch of literature on Bible topics, free of charge. We provide spiritual and pastoral care to our members.

Promotes the study of the history of the uniformed forces of the crown by talk, discussions, visits to museums, an annual exhibition and the publication of a quarterly magazine & booklets on particular aspects of military history. Promotes the collection of objects of military interest.

The objects of the society are to disseminate knowledge of sweet peas and other lathyrus species for the public benefit, to encourage, improve and extend the cultivation of these species by means of scientific trials, the holding of exhibitions and displays, by publications and other activities.

We support a nursery and primary school called 'Los Pollitos' situated in barrio Edguard Munguia, Managua, Nicaragua. The school currently has approximately 220 pupils. We pay the core salaries of 7 teachers. We have recently paid for the construction of a new building to house a library, office and computer room. We raise funds through a 'sponsor a teacher' scheme and pub quizzes.

The publications of books and pamphlets on subjects of interest to members of the Society and to others having an interest in the archaeology and history of Buckinghamshire. Organising public lectures and visits to places of interest for members of the Society.

Christian presence on Reigate High Street offering Books, Cards, Resources and Welcome to those who Drop-In. Also a base for other Christian Activities including Sparkfish (School and Youth work) and Street Pastors.

The D Foundation was created by the founders of ASBO Magazine to address the issue of young, unemployed people unable to find suitable training and hand-on experience outside of established educational centres such as University or college.

The provision and conduct of a public library and museum for the safe custody exhibition and study of objects of educational artistic or scientific interest and such other collections and objects of a similar nature as the council may think fit

The main activities of the society are to promote all aspects of Pteridology by encouraging the appreciation, conservation, cultivation and scientific study of ferns, horsetails, clubmosses and quillworts through publications, meetings, education, the provision of grants and other appropriate means.
