Arts Charities That specialise in Opera

We perform extracts or full performances of the Gilbert & Sullivan operas and stage a concerts, and support local charities from our profits. Our Christmas carol concerts are always in support of the local Macmillan Cancer Trust.

Providing community activities involving song and dance training and performance by volunteers.

Following our highly successful production of Aida in Heathfield, East Sussex in October 2015, we are currently considering our options and plans for another production. Additionally, our charitable objects have now been extended to allow us to support music more widely (not just opera) and to provide grants to aspiring musicians.

The objects of the charity are to educate the public in the dramatic and operatic arts and to futher development of, public appreciation and taste in them.

The Carl Rosa Trust awards grants to young opera singers and holds an archive of music and historical records of the Carl Rosa Opera Company, which may be loaned for specific purposes.

Fostering and encouraging musical and dramatic appreciation, education and culture, by rehearsal and amateur dramatic performances by our adult and youth groups.

To promote the development of psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Yorkshire by: Offering bursaries to trainees. Promoting educational & public events & colloborating with other organisations eg Opera North, Northern School of Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy.

The Society helps to promote the music of Gilbert & Sullivan. Our main activities are the annual performance of a full G & S opera, incuding some of the less well known ones, and a series of summer concerts at Eastbourne's seafront bandstand, hopefully bringing the music of G & S to visiting holidaymakers. Donations are made to nominated charities, from the proceeds of the show and the concerts.

Amateur Dramatics

The object of the Opera Group is to educate the public in the dramatic and operatic arts and to further the development of the public appreciation and taste in the said arts, to assist and further such charitable institutions and charitable purposes as the committee from time to time shall determine.

Preparation and presentation of public performances of musical theatre and concerts in the local area. Membership open to ages 16 years and above with reduced membership fee for full time students.

Provide entertainment to the public of Wirral by way of performing light operatic shows, reviews and concerts. Raise funds for other local charities.

Amateur theatre

Since 2015, Spectra Ensemble has been giving life to works that challenge traditional definitions of opera. Drawing inspiration from the early twentieth century, we focus on operas that fuse genres and media to create a mode of storytelling that offers something for everyone. With a broad programme of performances and education workshops, Spectra Ensemble opens opera up to brand new audiences.

The European Opera Centre launched in 1997 maintains two broad aims: to help people of high potential move from education to employment in opera; and to develop audiences for opera. Carefully designed projects provide opportunities to singers, repetiteurs and others. Activities include full productions, productions in concert, concerts and recitals, recordings, masterclasses and work in schools.

The object of SingersResound is to preserve and protect the physical and mental healthof opera and classical singers when they have encountered difficulties which impacttheir ability to perform. The charity fulfils this objective by providing a mentoringprogramme offering confidential support and education to help rebuild confidence andskills and to help alleviate isolation.

Our major sponsorship in the last and present financial years relates to the first staging in the UK of Berner's Opera Le Carrosse Du Saint-Sacrement (in English) by Dorset opera in July 2012.

To promote critical interest in the performing arts around the world. The website hosts reviews of productions staged in different countries and covers a wide range of performances including Greek tragedy, stand-up comedy, opera, mime, ballet and dramatic monologue. We encourage viewers of all ages to join our team.

Artregen helps in the regeneration of Pontypool through the Arts. our projects have included an artwork to commemorate the Millenium, a memorial (written and artwork) to a hospital , now being upgraded, relocated and restored an 18th Century arbour, have staged "Opera in the Park" 5times. Provided seats in the Italian gardens around a fountain which we helped to restore. Literary events.

Present fully staged operas. Enable talented emerging professional singers to gain performance experience at the start of their careers in operatic events. Increase access to high quality opera throughout the region and encourage community involvement. Introduce children, the elderly and disabled to the potential of opera and music theatre, by means of matinees and workshops.
