We aim to enhance the whole school experience of every child attending St Michaels, bringing families together and strengthening home/school relationships whilst embedding our school into the heart of our community. We raise funds through school an community activities and events and support the school with non statutory equipment and resources to ensure all children enjoy amazing opportunities.

The Matterdale Community Association (MCA) is a charity (No 1151528) which has been set up to promote social, recreational and educational activities for the benefit of the Matterdale community, and to provide educational activities and grants to young people. It hopes, in due course, to be able to establish a community centre, which will be the focus of community and educational activities

To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Westfield without distinction of gender, sexual orientation, race or political, religious, or other opinions, by associating together local inhabitants and the local authorities, voluntary and other in a common effort to advance education, provide facilities and improve conditions of local life.

The charity continues to provide accomodation for community activities - adult education classes; lifestyle activities; samba band, mixed community choir, youth choir and public music performances (Vocal and instrumental) and drama. Piano examination preparation for school age pupils.Conference facilities.

We hold various fundraising events at the school including; Cake sales , Cinema nights, Easter egg shop, Leavers' disco, Christmas and May Fairs among other things. This is to raise money for our school to offer resources and activities that enhance the educational experience of the children.

currently organise - Youth club age 12-16, Junior Disco's 7 - 11. we hold family events such as village festival in july, halloween party Oct, family treasure hunt in september.Hall is also the meeting place for agewell group, women's institute, pensioners whist drive. other events include fortnightly bingo, cooking 4 kids group and the village in bloom

Canolfan Cymdeithasol Gwytherin Community Association Committee runs the Community Centre for the benefit of the local inhabitants.

The village hall provides a venue for a range of community activities including a Sewing Bee, Pilates classes, Flicks in the Sticks, Annual Fete, Parish Lunch, Harvest Festival etc
