Charities In Barnsley

We run social activites for our members, their carers and their families. This can be anything from meals out to games night, our members are in a safe environment with support around them. We also run information events at local Sheffield hospitals to raise awareness of Brain Injury.

Presentation by public performance of stage plays. The society also aims to advance the education of the public in the Dramatic Arts. The society also hires its theatre to other organisations who put on plays and musicals.

To encourage and promote work with children and youth, outreach in local communities and assistance for the elderly.

Make grants of money or by providing or paying for items, services or facilities to individuals in the County Borough of Barnsley to reduce need, hardship or distress of such persons.

To provide christian awareness in schools by volunteers from the local churches using Open the Book

Hands on charitable activities as well as arranging functions to produce contributions to be used towards both domestic and International charities in line with Rotary International criteria.

We secure funding to help improve and provide new facilities and services, with the help of volunteers, to the village of Ardsley, Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

We offer advice to other single parents & children giving support and information; to lone parents within the Barnsley, South Yorkshire area. We have had trips of educational value for the children with the money from the past. We maintain an allotment as a group project

The Charity continues to work within the Dale Park area to improve the enviroment for all residents of the Worsbrough and Barnsley area. The work with children and young people continues to be a priority for the charity. With the continuation of the play sessions throughout the summer school holiday periods and other various events planned throughout the year the Charity continues its work.

Provision of Dyslexia education to children and young persons in the Barnsley area

Responsible for historic collections, exhibitions, events and enquiry services relating to the history of the York and Lancaster Regiment and its forbears.

BHR has returned from a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo, were it collaborated with a local school. The school is made up of four main walls using scrap metal and some sheets, the children learn on the floor, together we have agreed to sponsor 35 children allowing them to gain education. We will now focus on reconstructing the school so the children will have a safe environment to learn.

Secure funding and legal permissions to restore and preserve the historic 'Hoyland Lowe Stand'. To carry out the restoration and preservation to high and legally compliant standards.

Training & Welfare of Animals

Events/fund raisers organised in this financial year included race nights, night time golf event, an evening with comedien Steve Womack and our annual Black & White Ball. We feel privileged to have helped almost 800 children during the year.

Barnsley Youth Zone exists to provide young people with somewhere safe and inspiring to go in their leisure time. Open 7 days a week and offering up to 20 activities per session, young people can be active, access a hot meal for around £1 and find wider support to help them reach their full potential. The building is currently under construction and due to open in 2025.
