The Glasson Community Association was formed to provide for the inhabitants of Glasson and the neighbourhood, by association with these inhabitants and local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort. Facilities for recreation and leisure time activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

Fund raising activities to raise money for extra resources for the school.

The relief of expectant and nursing mothers resident in the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness who are in conditions of need, hardship, or distress. Any income not required for this purpose may be applied in relieving, in cases of need, pre-school age children who are sick, convalescent, disabled, handicapped or infirm.

Donations/assistance to local causes/individuals

Collect and distribute donations to persons who have served in the Royal Air Force

We raise monies to provide finance for equipment requested by hospital management. We provide comfort and support for patients particularly the old and those with no family or living far away.

PROVIDING SOCIAL, CREATIVE AND INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITYThe Youth Club has been closed since the ourbreak of Covid and there is no possibilty that it can reopen as there is are no volunteers due to ill health.

Community events such as playscheme activities and fun days are held on the Green.

The Community Centre provides a wide of recreational and social facilities including a large hall and stage.This is used for by the community and community groups for weddings,race - nights,dances,quizzes,public meetings etc.In additon there are a number of community groups - currently totoalling some 20 orgamisations that use the facilities.There is also asquash court,sauna,fitness suit

KAIROS Companions in Grief is A Bereavement Counselling & Support Service for Bereaved People throughout Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and County Durham. It offers (a) a specialist one-to-one bereavement counselling service; (b) specialist therapeutic bereavement support groups; (c) organisational bereavement advisory service; (d) from 2013, counselling service for bereaved children.

We provide opportunities to children who would otherwise not receive them. These include club activities, meals and wider opportunities.We also provide continuing professional development to staff to enable them to better support children.

Please note:- Our activities are now greatly reduced - we built a Community Centre 20 years ago which we have now leased to another Charity - Wetheriggs United Football Club - They are a Chartity organisation (not sure of their number) email address:- wetheriggsunited@hotmail.com We are still the "landlord" but all hirings etc will be done by them and as from now we will have very little income.
