The charity's objective is, in the interests of social welfare, to improve the lives of people in the North East who by reason of their social and economic circumstances are in need of support. The charity provides activities that enable people to improve their physical, mental and social health, feel integrated within their community and develop skills that will benefit them throughout life.

A range of activities to provide recreational and educational opportunities to improve the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Leadgate.Also to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of Leadgate.

Arts

To promote for the benefit of inhabitants of Chester le Street and the surrounding areas, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions, the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need for such facilities within the context of the Riverside Park, Chester le Street, County Durham.

The Trust facilitates the advancement of the Christian religion for the public benefit. It provides and maintains gospel halls where religious meetings are held including the carrying on of the service of God, and it facilitates the distribution of Christian literature and engagement with the wider community and other charitable organisations.

The Witton Park War Memorial Institute Field is a playing field in the village of Witton Park which is used for recreational purposes

Providing support & resources for transgender & non-binary people via signposting ,advice,advocacy & community development . Providing awareness training to businesses,organisations,community & faith groups & the general public. Providing consultation & policy assist to businesses,organisations,community & faith groups & the general public.

Investment income is used towards meeting the running costs of the Family Centres administered by the Charity called the National Children's Home

The object of Crosslinks shall be to preach the Gospel to every creature in fulfilment of our Lord's command, it being clearly understood that such preaching is the primary function of missionary enterprise, taking precedence over medical and other auxiliary ministries.

TWHF promotes the conservation of heritage within the North East, offering support and guidance to those wishing to protect a significant heritage feature ie. something that links a community to its past; a building, artefact, memorial, statue, street or pathway, view or natural feature providing a reminder of a former historic or industrial past, eg the current Lowick Pilgrim Initiative.

The Charity activities were limited during this accounting period due to the youth club being closed. In September 2008 a new Committee was formed and young people from the village submitted a Youth Capital Fund application to Durham County Council to refurbish the old Methodist Church Hall as a youth club. This work was completed in early 2009 and the youth club re-opened in April 2009.

The charity develops and delivers outdoor sessions for schools and other groups which could include mountain biking, archery, nature sessions or Forest Schools.
