The charity's object and its principal activity is to promote and undertake scientific research in the field of computer science and in particular in logic programming and to disseminate the results of such research and to encourage and develop knowledge and use of the logic programming in all its branches for the benefit of the public.

Support of educational projects in either developing countries or the UK

The IAVM organises and runs seminars, workshops and training programmes for students, teachers, trainee teachers and public in various parts of the world. To date these have been in India, the Philippines and South Africa. Each year we run an online conference and an in-person conference, that latter of which takes place in India. The conferences attract researchers, enthusiasts and teachers.
