Group B streptococcus (GBS) is the UK's commonest life-threatening infection in newborn babies. Without preventative medicine, GBS infects approximately 700 babies a year: 75 die & 40 survivors have long-term problems. Most GBS infections are preventable by offering higher-risk women antibiotics in labour. GBSS informs pregnant women and health professionals how to do this, saving tiny lives.

The BSDB aims to promote and advance the research, teaching and public education of developmental biology in the United Kingdom by organising research meetings, awarding grants to individuals and organisations. The Fatherhood Institute is the UK's fatherhood think-tank.
