Education Charities That specialise in University of the third age

1. To advance the education of the public, in particular of older people no longer in full time gainful employment, in Witham and Braintree and the surrounding locality.2. To provide facilities for leisure,recreational and educational activities by the establishment and running of interest groups and by the interchange of knowledge and experience specific to those groups.

We provide educational and cultural opportunities and activities for people who are retired or semi-retired in teh Ashington and District area.

EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR OLDER PEOPLE, NOT IN FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT.

The advancement of education and, in particular, the education of older people and those retired from full time work, by all means including associated activities conducive to learning and personal development.We have over 30 activity groups covering a very wide variety of learning/social activities.

The charity provides the opportunity for people to participate in activities of an educational and/or recreational nature. This is achieved through self help groups covering 30 different activities both of an indoor and outdoor nature.

The organisation continues to promote the benefits of learning in later life through self-help learning. Members have formed 21 interest groups, which are learning co-operatives, drawing upon the knowledge, experience and skills of their own members and covering a wide range of topics and activities.

All members of West Dartmoor U3A are encouraged to take part in any of our many small and varied groups. We hold regular monthly meetings for all members to attend, a speaker is usually booked and, in addition, there are social functions throughout the year.

University of the 3rd age to promote learning in later life.

IWUFT aims to: a) encourage and enable older people no longer in full-time paid employment to help each other to share their knowledge, skills, interests and experience. b) demonstrate the benefits and enjoyment to be gained and the new horizons to be discovered in learning throughout life. c) celebrate the capabilities and potential of older people and their value to society.

MONTHLY MEETINGS AT THE RUGBY CLUB FOR REPORTS BY GROUP CONVENORS , WITH OCCASIONAL GUEST SPEAKERS. MOST OTHER MEETINGS HELD IN MEMBERS HOMES FOR PAINTING*, APPRECIATING MUSIC, GARDENING, MAH JONGG. SCRABBLE, FRENCH, ENJOYING ARCHITECTURE*, RAILWAYS, HANDICRAFTS, BRIDGE, FILMS, BIRDS AND NATURE, PLAY-READING, WRITING , FAMILY HISTORY, COMPUTER USERS*,WALKS*. SINGING*. *INDICATES HELD ELSEWHERE.

Provide educational and recreational activities for retired people. These include writing, reading, history and art and in addition there are table tennis and walking groups.

Providing Leisure and Educational activities for people not in full time employment.

During the pandemic we held monthly committee meetings by Zoom. We also hosted, in conjunction with the local U3A Group 4 talks on subjects related to the Museum collection. The Georgian Gown has now been conserved and forms the centre piece of the Georgian Room in the newly opened Amelia Scott Centre.

Holds meetings each month for members with a lecture. Also group meetings where members follow interests such as French, German, circle dancing, poetry, literature, local history, music, walking and reading Shakespeare and social events.

U3A IS A LEARNING CO-OPERATIVE OF OLDER PEOPLE WHICH ENABLES MEMBERS TO SHARE MANY EDUCATIONAL, CREATIVE & LEISURE ACTIVITIES. IT PROMOTES & FACILITATES LIFE-LONG LEARNING. U3A'S ARE DEMOCRATIC SELF FUNDED & SELF MANAGED ORGANISATIONS, THEY DRAW UPON THE KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS OF THEIR MEMBERS TO ORGANISE INTEREST GROUPS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WISHES OF THE MEMBERSHIP.

We meet, as a full group once a month. The venue is at Cynon Linc in Aberdare. We hold a business meeting, followed by a speaker. At various times in a month we hold groups in poetry, reading, walking, gardening, music and travel trips.

The provision of facilities for leisure and recreational activities for older people in the interest of their social welfare.

Groups are formed from members who wish to pursue a particular interest or activity and are generally led or co-ordinated by one of their number. Membership of any group is open to all members subject to any necessary limitation on numbers by virtue of the activity carried out.

The activities of the Llandovery University of the Third Age are to advance the education of the public and, in particular, the education of older people in Llandovery and its surrounding locality.

THE PROVISION OF A YOUTH AND COMMUNITY CENTRE FOR USE BY THE CHARITY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS TO PROVIDE ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, EDUCATION (E.G. PRE-SCHOOL DAY-CARE AND U3A), MUSIC, SPORTS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES FOR THE LOCAL POPULATION OF GREAT BOOKHAM AND THE SURROUNDING AREA. BYCA WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER CHARITIES, ORGANISATIONS AND SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SERVICE.

To provide educational and recreational facilities for the inhabitants of the Moortown and district of Leeds. Activities are :- bridge, bowls, snooker, tennis, table tennis, indoor bowls, dancing, keep fit, weightwatchers, U3A concerts, quiz etc. We also have a bar and main hall which are hired out for birthdays, weddings, anniversary's etc.

Our traditional target beneficiaries are people, over 55 in Southampton, to improve their health, well being, life skills building and education.
