Educational and recreational activities for people not in full-time employment

The advancement of education and, in particular, the education of older people and those who have retired from full tome work by all means including associated activities conducive to learning and personal development in Tonyrefail and its surrounding locality.

We provide opportunities for semi-retired and retired people to enjoy and engage in educational and cultural activities through regular meetings in groups across a wide range of subjects.

Educational/recreational activities for people no longer in full time employment

The U3A movement encourages its members to share their knowledge and talents freely with each otherin informal learning interest groups. This self-help model empowers members to create their ownopportunities to learn in the ways that suit members best. As a result, members contribute to a widerange of engaging and stimulating interest groups in an atmosphere of mutual support andcompanions

The charitable purposes of the U3a is to advance education and, in particular, the education of older people and those who are retired from full time work, by the use of all means, including associated activities conclusive to learning and personal development.

Monthly meeting with invited speaker. Also group activities, including art appreciation, literature, current affairs, poetry reading and more. We also arrange trips to concerts and the theatre. During the year a gardening group, visiting Welsh gardens and hearing talks.

We run several self help groups for semi and retired people such as bowls, history, book club, card games etc

Shared learning activities and interests for persons of above retirement age and no longer in gainful employment.

We provide educational and recreational activities for older people no longer in full time employment. We do this through monthly meetings with a variety of speakers and also have small group activities embracing a number of topics. These may include visits.

To advance the education of the public and in particular the education of older people no longer in full time gainful employment.The provision of facilities for leisure time and recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the above persons in the interests of their social welfare.

Plympton U3A holds a general monthly meeting, usually with a speaker. The meeting is at Harewood House , Plympton. We have over 30 Interest groups which meet weekly/fortnightly/monthly. They are held in a variety of venues in Plympton. i.e. community halls, local pubs, members homes.

U3A offers educational and leisure activities for retired men and women ie lifetime learning.

Provision of learning activities for persons aged over 55.

general interest and educational sub-group activities run on a purely voluntary basis, e.g:philosophy, art appreciation, walking, holiday, reading, languages, music, and many more.

To inform and assist members to learn various activities eg Canasta, Mah-Jong Walking groups, lunch groups, Art Appreciation Group, theatre visits and day trips.

Witham U3A organises and operates interest groups in a wide range of subjects provided via the expertise of Witham U3A members and lectures by visiting speakers. Subjects such as History, Genealogy, Appreciation of Architecture and Natural History and Music are included together with recreational activities such as walking which designed to improve and maintain member's physical wellbeing.

Members form Interest Groups and, through sharing their knowledge, skills and experience, learn from each other. Current groups include Art History; Book Club; Bridge; Choir; Cinema; Cookery; Craft; Cribbage; Gardening ; Garden Visits; Family History; Italian; Lunch Club; Petanque; Photography; Politics; Scrabble; Cribbage; Table Tennis; Theatre and Trips; Walking; Whist; Yoga.

The Horley & District U3A organises educational and social groups for people who are retired or no longer in full time employment.

Education And Training

To advance the education of the public and in particular of the middle-aged and older people, who are no longer in full-time gainful employment, through shared learning in The Rodings and surrounding area. To provide facilities and opportunities for leisure-time learning and recreational activities with the object of improving conditions of life and social welfare of our members.

The Selsey U3A is self funding through membership fees. Members are encouraged/supported to set up interest groups.Monthly Meetings are held and different speakers are invited to talk about various subjects. Items of interest are discussed. A monthly Quiz is also held. A newsletter is distributed monthly to members.Events or educational visits are arranged at regular intervals.

The U3A provides opportunites for its members to socialise, learn new skills, visit new places and enjoy recreation. We try to arrange interesting and stimulating speakers. We have over 20 groups organised by the members themselves on a range of subjects, for example, artistic, sporting, languages, gardening & historical.
