PUBLIC OPEN SPACE

Small public open space.

The application of income in the maintenance of the almshouse buildings, garden and services is the first priority. Surplus income is applied on various projects of a charitable nature within the area of benefit, for example repairs to the local swimming pool buildings and facilities, improvements to the facilities of the local football club and improvement of local school facilities.

To relieve either generally or individually persons resident in the parishes of Downton and Redlynch who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.

In the heart of a national park, provides a village green - grassed open space with trees and seating for local activities/quiet enjoyment. Available at no charge to the general public, local residents and visitors.

The Chalice Well and Gardens, maintained as a living sanctuary for contemplation and healing are open to visitors every day of the year. The Trust provides an annual programme of spiritual music, community gatherings and educational retreats to people of all faiths and spiritual paths. The Trust offers an annual subscription to supporters, retreat accommodation and a meeting room.

The trustees are responsible for an area of woodland which have preservation orders on the trees with no means of income. There is also a bowling green which is used by the people of clayton le moors both young and old.The trustees activities are to maintain the preservation order on the trees by any means at their disposal if work is to be done in the woodland.

Currently the Trust holds property and lands for the use of the parishioners of Northolt Village and, if they are not using them, the wider community.

Maintains and supervises an area of open space for the benefit of local parishioners comprising mainly saltings of a tidal estuary which have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Includes a small quay and also a village pond (the latter outside the SSSI area) which is maintained on a voluntary basis by the local residents.
