Health Charities That specialise in Dementia

The Schonfeld Square Foundation has a wide range of therapeutic and recreational activities for the elderly and infirm and has specialist provision for people with dementia.

Village Hall for use by residents and local community. Activities range from the very young to the elderly: Bridge Club, WI, Keep Fit, Dementia Care Day Centre with lunches on two days a week, Parish Council Meetings, Table tennis club, Social evenings, Hall and Committee Room available for Hire for Parties, meetings and functions.

The charity brings people from all walks of life together, to sing, play and perform. It is an ideal setting for so many reasons, it helps people with Dementia Alzheimer?s speech impediments and much more. It brings the young and the elderly together through their mutual love of music, social inclusion for people from the more vulnerable backgrounds now feel valued and have a purpose.

Rye Harbour Sailability enables people with difficulties to enjoy the fun and freedom of sailing with an experienced helm and crew. This gives opportunities for sailors with learning difficulties, dementia, mild cerebral palsy and autism, for example, to build their confidence and apply this in their day to day activities. Local volunteers help run social and training events.

A community choir which holds three concerts each year.Soloist parts are sung by students from the major music schools and musicians from music schools play instruments.Collections are made for worthy charities including Teenage Cancer Trust,Children with Leukaemia,Surrey Air Ambulance,Headway Surrey , Aspire ( for spinal injuries). Dementia UK,Cancer Research , Heart Research UK .

-The provision of support, assistance and information to people affected, whether directly or indirectly, by head injuries in sport or dementia.-The promotion of research into the nature, causes, diagnosis and treatment of head injuries in sport and dementia.-The publication of the useful results of such research.

Everyone Matters delivers high quality professional music-making: workshops for children and young people, particularly those with special needs; interactive concerts for older people in care settings, and a special scheme for those with dementia; mentoring young, and adult amateur, musicians to perform alongside professionals for older people in care settings; lecture-recitals for music lovers.

We provide support for people living with dementia and their carers within Daventry and Daventry District. The support comprises two 2-hour meetings each month. At the meetings activities take place to stimulate the brain, people can socialise, be entertained and have refreshments. Beneficiaries are also taken on outings.

We use income from a property that we own and donations. We donate money, clothes and other useful items to other charities and causes. Since covid the church is no longer running physical services. Support is now given to former members and others in the community via prayer and spiritual guidance by virtual/ phone communication.The Minister also works with local Dementia/ Althzeimer groups.

FHADS organises an annual two-day golf team fundraising event hosted by one of three participating Herefordshire golf courses, on a alternating basis.

Run Memory Cafe sessions: All Thursdays of each month between 2.00-4.00pm. Cafe session programmes provide the opportunity for guests and their supporters to engage in a wide range of arts, cultural and social activities, often led by professional facilitators. Offer information and support on dementia and signposting to specialist organisations/services. Run Dementia Friends awareness sessions.

Working with local care homes and charities to provide funding for the relief of alzheimers and dementia sufferers and top-up grants to enable residents to remain in their care homes when their finances are exhausted. Our activities are currently limited to the Surrey/Hampshire border area.

Dementia Harborough is aimed at people in Market Harborough and surrounding areas recently diagnosed with dementia with their carers, to provide fun, companionship and information.We run a monthly Dementia Cafe with activities and guest speakers. Our monthly Singing for Memories group offers the opportunity to join in song and music. Additionally we arrange other activities and outings.

Provide grants to deserving causes within the Lancaster, Morecambe and Heysham areas of North West England, District 105CN areas & and Multiple District 105 areas of Lions Clubs International, British Isles. We also undertakes a number of local community service projects. Examples of such projects include: Community food club, Toys for needy families at Christmas, Dementia drop in centre.

We provide social activities for people with dementia and their carers. Operating in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas. At present including singing, games, cinema, coffee morning, indoor bowls, digital friends and an allotment group.

Hire of Hall to various Recreational Clubs including Bowls, Bingo, Art and Crafts, Memory, Alzheimers, Dance clubs and Exercise classes.Hire of Hall for private parties and other celebratory functions.Fundraising events including Bingo, fairs, plant sales.Community events: Village fair , National and Royal events

The Choir gives concerts both charitable and non-charitable for the benefit of local communities and also for communities further afield; this year we have given concerts for various charities including Yorkshire air ambulance,Prince of Wales Hospice(Pontefract), Knottingley company shop. We have also raised money by concerts and other means for the Alzheimer's Society.In 2024 Prostate Cancer.

For the Purposes of Research into Alzheimers and Dementia.

Dementia Action Marlow runs weekly social support sessions for those living with dementia and their carers. We run occasional group outings too. We keep in contact with those unable to come along to our sessions by telephone, email or newsletter.

Centred on Holt and the surrounding district, we offer social support and access to activities for those living with dementia and respite for their carers through provision of 2 weekly cafes, a home visiting service and a twice monthly afternoon cafe, plus information and advice on our website and newsletters, dementia awareness training and participation in local dementia friendly initiatives.
