Health Charities That specialise in Visual impairment

To provide local news, information and items of general interest in an audio format to members of the blind and partially sighted community on the Wirral.

The charity's object is the relief of the visually impaired, including general and spiritual education, rehabilitation, braille services and other materials relating to the visually impaired.In pursuit of the above objectives the charity has raised funds for the support of the Bartimaeus Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired in Bangalore, India.

To enable visually impaired people in Yeovil and surrounding areas to play the game of bowls and interact socily.

Our aim is to eliminate the boundaries which Deaf, blind or Deaf blind people are faced with on a day to day basis; to try and raise awareness; create opportunities both social and career wise; and to destroy the pejorative image that is associated with the Deaf, blind and Deaf blind. We are attempting to enable these young individuals to enjoy and live the normal lives they are entitled to.

We provide local news features and information relevant to blind and visually impaired, specifically in the Fareham and Gosport areas; we record fortnightly on ' memory sticks.'

The charity records the weekly newspapers, which cover the south devon towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Ivybridge. The technicians, readers and other helpers are all volunteers. A christmas party is organised for listeners.

PROVIDES FORTNIGHTLY RECORDED SYNOPSIS OF LOCAL NEWS AND ITEMS OF GENERAL INTEREST

Charity to benefit 14 named beneficairies or such other charitable bodies and organisations as the trustees shall nominate during the trust period:- Cancer Research UK, RNIB, Institute of Cancer, NSPCA., NSPCC, RSPCA, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Arthritis Care, RNLI, Battersea Dogs Home, British Red Cross, Help the Aged, National Trust and RAF Benevolent Fund.

To Organise and Participate in Bowls events in Wales, UK and World Tournaments for People who are either Blind or Partially Sighted.

During the year we have arranged monthly trips throughout the summer. There are weekly activities: coffee & chat, with games and other activities as arranged. There are also other occasional activities - fundraising with Christmas and Easter fairs, Darlington carnival and a Christmas lunch.

We record on audio equipment extracts from local newspapers. Copies are sent to those with sight impairment in this district, i.e. those with difficulties in reading those newspapers. We also send an audio magazine to these listeners. This contains miscellaneous items of interest.

the group exists to provide & manage 3 angling events for the disabled ages from 7/77 each event is well supported by members Carers volunteers. These individuals are all registered disabled wheelchairs users, visual impairment and /or learning difficulties. The ethos of the group is one of friendship and social inclusion and promotes well-being & increases self-esteem amongst the disabled people.

Provides a talking Newspaper (tapes) to the Blind

Support rural development in India providing i) primary health, eye and disability care (vocational training for adult & rehab. training for children) ii) health awareness on nutrition, F.P.,use of good drinking water, sanitation & safer child birth iii) screening camps for breast & cervical cancer & treatment iv) homeo & modern medicine clinics v) supporting education of poor & blind students.

Supporting the needs of the blind and partially sighted living within the county of Ceredigion. Working in conjunction with Ceredigion Social Services, and Wales Council for the Blind.

We produce impartial public service information, in audio, for blind and partially-sighted people in Great Britain across several audio delivery platforms. We cover all aspects of living with sight loss, sometime by interviewing those who provide support, products and services; and we also encourage vision-impaired people to share their own experiences and ideas.

TO RELIEVE THE BLIND, OR THE PARTIALLY SIGHTED, OR THOSE LABOURING UNDER SOME TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT INCAPACITY OR DISABILITY WHICH MAKES READING A STRAIN, ESPECIALLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY WITHIN THE STROUD DISTRICT, BY THE PROVISION OF WEEKLY RECORDED MEDIA.

Gives support to people with disabilities and mobility difficulties of all kinds, including sensory impairments; provides disability advocacy and information to group members, people with disabilities, parents with young children, carers and the public in general sponsors or undertakes research offers guidance to local agencies and providers of services and public buildings on disability matters.

The running of eye care camps in India for the sight impaired.

Riding for disabled and blind children, aged 2 years - 16 years.

The Audio Magazine produces monthly a CD containing news, talks, interviews, & reports on local topics for local people who either have a visual impairment, restricted mobilty, or older people who wish to stay in touch with their local community. This service is free-of-charge.

Advancement of the arts, in particular music, dance and drama, for people with disabilities and or sensory impairment with a view to relieve their needs, have fun and grow in confidence. This is achieved by a series of workshops where people with the above disabilities work with able bodied people under the guidance of trained tutors to create an original piece of theatre.

The RNA is a rank-blind membership organisation primarily for serving and former serving RN personnel and the wider naval family, who are proud of their Naval Service. We seek to maintain the naval ethos and enjoy sharing experiences with like minded people while supporting each other in times of need. The mission of the RNA is to foster camaraderie through events, comms and welfare support.
