The aim of the Garw Valley Railway is to recreate for present and future generations a typical South Wales Valley branch line by providing a working railway and Heritage Centre to preserve, display and explain the industrial and social history that made this valley what it was and is today.

To educate the public in Maritime History and the promotion and encouragement of the study of Maritime History and in particular the Maritime History of the Counties of Hampshire and Dorset and of interest in shipping of all kinds.

HERITAGE CENTRE/MUSEUM AND VISITOR INFORMATION

HDFAS is actively involved in the local community to advance decorative and fine arts - promoting arts, education and heritage conservation. The society brings together like minded individuals through a programme of monthly talks, in depth study days and outings to places of historical and artistic interest. Activities it supports include church recording, heritage volunteering and the young arts.

Acts for the public benefit taking a balanced view to protect and enhance the character and amenities of Weybridge and the surrounding area including:-(i) high standards of planning/architecture;(ii) educate in the geography, history, natural history and architecture of the area of benefit;(iii) preservation, protection development and improvement of features of historic or public interest.

The Janusz Korczak's Polish Saturday School in Cardiff provides education for children of primary school age living in the South East Wales. The school's program includes Polish language, geography, history, culture and traditions. The premises of the school are in Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cyncoed Campus.

The Executive Committee continues to promote the study of family history through various media. This includes monthly meetings at 2 locations and also online, our quarterly journal, attendance at fairs and through the Society website. We also transcribe original documents and record Memorial Inscriptions.

Permanent and temporary exhibitions and displays on Ashby-de-la-Zouch and its neighbourhood. Regular guided walks. Evening classes, lectures, workshops. Publications of local history, including an annual magazine "Past and Present". Conservation and preservation of a local archive, including photographs, books, documents, newspapers, artefacts.

To relive the need of those who are victims of natural disaster or who are need by reason of proverty, sickness or distress through material and financial and by the provision of advice and information.To advance education through provision of English language classes and lesson in the language, culture and history of Kanaighat.To provide and assist in the provision of recreational facilities.

Scout activities including camping, hiking, swimming and weekly meetings doing art & craft, sport, cooking, knots etc. Badge work includes care for animals, first aid, music, hobbies, collecting, local history and religion. Local and London visits to places of interest and worship.

We help young people to gain experience and qualifications to help and guide them into responsible adulthood. The activities are mainly, sailing, canoeing, boating, engineering etc all under the supervision of well qualified volunteer instructors. Operations well established locally and have a long history. The unit supports community functions in addition to fund raising to maintain the unit.
