Heritage Charities That specialise in History

Researching local history of the four parishes that make up Bewdley. The Group attends Local History Fairs and local events to promote the Group. Producing publications on a range of topics all connected to Bewdley.

The Society monitors planning proposals, particularly in the Ware Conservation Area and comments where appropriate. It operates a biennial Town Award Scheme in recognition of developments or projects that have enhanced the appearance or amenity of the townOrganises monthly talks on various relevant topicsIt publishes or sponsors various publications concerning the history of the town

The society arranges lectures for its members during the winter period,of a historical and/or archaeological nature,and during the summer months,excursions to places of historical interest.The society also has a fund from which an annual grant is made to an individual or individuals who are undertaking historical or archaeological research relating to the Canterbury area.

Provision of memorials and conservation of historical records

The Charity will create a new garden for the benefit of the public by re-designing, enhancing, protecting and promoting the American Garden in Peckham Rye Park. The Garden will honour 18th century botanist Peter Collinson and his famous seed and plant exchange with American John Bartram.

We provide a prgramme of talks through the year on local history topics to members of the society and visitors. These will focus on Plaxtol and our surrounding area in Kent.We also carry out research. We have computerised the Plaxtol Census data from 1841 to 1911, and the church registers from the 17C to present. We are publishing a series of booklets on Victorian life in Plaxtol.

To maintain Warminster Museum and provide monthly lectures at Warminster Library on topics relating to history.

Collects material and information concerning the history of Charlton Kings. Studies and publishes information collected. Stimulates public interest in, and appreciation of, local history. Undertakes other activities, on its own or in co-operation with others, to support the aims of the society detailed above.

Involved in Educational and Training projects in the locality of Bagillt, Flintshire. Currently provides a Community Garden project where training is given to all age groups - includes cultivation of plants and fruit trees and Bee Keeping.Also involved in Heritage walk development around historical and industrial sites in the locality.

The Charity supports and raises funds to assist the Churches Conservation Trust which has taken on responsibility for the maintenance of the Church-in-the-Field in preserving for the benefit of the nation the church and, if appropriate, historical, architectural and archaeological environmental heritage that may exist around the church.

Collection and publication of archaeological and historical information relating to the former county of Flint.To arrange lectures and discussions, and visits to buildings and sites of historical interest.

Promote & encourage the rational & appropriate development of Alton & its amenities. Stimulate interest in the past, present and future of Alton. Work for the preservation & enhancement of local features of particular historical, cultural or aesthetic or environmental importance. Act as a focus for obtaining & giving relevant information and advice and to provide a forum for public discussion.

To promote for the public benefit the collection and preservation of documents relating to the history, architecture and development of the Hampstead Garden Suburb.

We organise a series of winter lectures and summer visits associated with local history for the education of the public. We also seek to preserve historic objects and buildings. Likewise, we produce a six-monthly newsletter with articles written by members with topics of local historical interest.

Provide educational and recreational activities for retired people. These include writing, reading, history and art and in addition there are table tennis and walking groups.

Provision of a resource centre for archival material concerning Chiddingfold, its history, architecture and people.

Literacy100 campaigns for literacy services in England and Wales that are accessible to adults with a history of complex needs, including homelessness.

Archaeological society promoting and supporting research into the occuaption of Roman North East England in general, and the Roman fort at South Shields in particular, through annual conference, Roman re-enactment and publication programme. Also supports the wider archaeology and history of South Shields.

The activities of the Charity are the advancement of education to benefit the public by encouraging the preservation and appreciation of the heritage of NCFC by enhancing a collection of NCFC memorabilia and ephemera.

The aims of the society are to further the studies of birds in the field and assist in their preservation.Specific activities include:- co-operation with other bodies in the maintenance/management of local areas of ornithological/natural history importance- recording of bird life in the LOS area- publishing of ornithological material and that related to conservation, relevant to the area

Our aim is to advance knowledge and education for the public benefit in the history of Britain and Russia. We promote the memory of Grand Duchess Elizabeth (1864-1918), the granddaughter of Queen Victoria, and other members of the Russian Imperial House and aristocratic families. We operate a website, organise conferences, exhibitions, trips, publish books and a magazine. We erected a monument.
