Research Charities

The Thompson Educational Trust was set up in February 1997 with the aim of providing funding for the advancement of the education of young people, particularly in the areas of medical research, science, literature, music and sport.

Our charity's current activities are: A Saturday supplementary school of classes in mother tongue and national curriculum in maths english and science for children aged 5-16. Sport activities for children on Saturday. Outings for children and their families during the holidays.

We have three main types of activities:1) Meditation: we organise regular meditation sessions, instructions, retreats, and talks as well as courses in meditation and Buddhist philosophy;2) Public Engagement: we seek to share the benefits of Chan meditation with the public through various channels;3) Social Engagement: we aim to contribute wherever the need arises in the broader community.

The aim and objective of the Choir is to educate the general public in the art and science of music. The choir performs four concerts a year and other than Christmas in the choral tradition. We employ internationally acclaimed soloists and use professional musicians to accompany us.

The charity organised classes on almost every Saturday during the year. These classes covered languages, philosophy, music, dance and drama.

To promote the conservation, protection and enhancement of nature and the amenities of the country in the UK for the purpose of study and research and otherwise for the benefit of the public and to educate and stimulate the interest of the public in all things and areas of natural and scientific interest and to acquire suitable areas of land for the purpose of nature conservation.

To us ethe income to award a Fellowship in clinical research in hospitals in the Metropolitan area of London. The research must concern diseases such as usually treated at a General Hospital, excluding tropical and rare diseases.

To encourage and publish, in the public interest, the generation of new knowledge about nicotine and tobacco, in all their manifestations from molecular to societal, by constituting a forum for scientific research on these issues.

To advance public education within science, technology and the environment for young people of statutory school age in the East London Boroughs and surrounding areas.

Holding Church Services, Meetings and Lectures on Christian Science.Running a Reading Room and Resource Centre where the Bible and Christian Science literature can be read, borrowed or purchased.All these activities are open to the public.

To promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in and appreciation of the art and science of chamber music in all its aspects by the presentation of professional public concerts and by such other ways as the society through its committee shall determine from time to time

This will be achieved by supporting scientifically relevant research on disease threats, genetic analyses, and population viability assessments. LionAid is dedicated to forming collaborative partnerships with research institutions, universities and other charities to ensure significant conservation outcomes.

Sleep Apnoea Trust works to improve the lives of sleep apnoea patients, their partners and families, by providing advice and assistance through telephone helplines, newsletters, publications, a website, medical alert cards, and an annual conference. We also campaign for the provision of better services by the NHS, and contribute towards relevant research projects.

To protect and promote the health of the public in particular by research into the nature, causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of aortic disease, including the development of findings of research into practical applications for the prevention, treatment and cure of aortic disease, and by the provision or assistance in the provision of equipment, facilities and services

The principal activity of the 'SLTC' is to assist and encourage the application of science and technology to the manufacture and utilisation of leather and related products and by the publication of journals and the holding of meetings, to further the development of scientific knowledge in the leather industry.

Research and scientific investigation into problems relating to causation, prevention, diagnosis or treatment of illness resulting from disease or disordered function of the nervous system. The focus of the Charity's work is on dementia.
