Arts Charities That specialise in Literature

The charity exists to educate the public in Scottish Country Dancing, by teaching dancing, holding dances and publishing books, records and other training materials, and by promoting dancing as part of our cultural heritage, as well as a healthy and enjoyable activity. Some dances are held for the general public, which raise funds for the charitable purposes of the Branch.

Barons Court Trust Fund supports two beneficiaries ~ the activities of Barons Court Primary School and Nursery; providing extra resources outside the Local Authority budget AND Barons Court Community Library and Information Centre; a community facility housed on the school site, which offers family learning opportunities.

The Palmerston Forts Society acts as a forum for research on the Victorian Fortifications of the Portsmouth area and the U.K. A journal is published each year. The Society arranges work parties and educational programmes of lectures, talks and visits to forts. A section of the Society is the Portsdown Artillery Volunteers who regularly perform authentic Victorian gun drills and firings.

We raise money to support a feeding scheme for destitute pupils at Thuto Lesedi Secondary School. We also send books to assist development of school libraries, and send Solar study lamps. Thuto Lesedi Secondary school is historically a "Black only" school in Vosloorus, Gauteng Province in South Africa.

Help in distributing aid in areas struck by disaster.

Raises funds for the development of sanitation projects in the area of Dominase, Ghana. This encompases a total of 12 villages. Projects include the construction of school toilets and the provision of the materials to allow the villagers to build domestic toilets.The Charity is now moving on to provide educational materials, reading books and enable careers and reading events to take place.

The ACWRT (UK) organises events relating to the study of the American Civil War, publishes a magazine about the War 3 times per year, as well as a regular e-bulletin, and maintains a website with useful information and sources about the War. The Tarvin Educational Foundation is the charity set up to manage the endowment of the old Tarvin Grammar School. We are the PTA for our local primary school. This year we have held discos & Summer & Christmas fairs. All the year 6 leavers were presented with a book of their choice,plus an evenings bowling. We have also provided refreshments at many events, including Sports Day & Nativity performances. But our main achievement was updating the key stage playground to be used by the whole school

Parents and Teachers at Hermitage run events at Hermitage Primary school in order to enrich the children's lives and raise funds to benefit the pupils that attend the school. These events include Summer and Christmas Fayres, "Breakfast with Santa", "Book at Bedtime" among others.

BIH provides children in Sierra Leone education and also plans to provide accommodation for some students. We currently create a safe learning environment, with food, books and educational material to less privileged children in local village in Sierra Leone.

RaAM's aim is to advance the study of metaphor for the public benefit. To this end it organises annual international metaphor conferences/seminars and practical training workshops, offers prizes for high quality presentations by research students and publications by academics early in their career, and tries to bring together academics and students.
