BOC is an umbrella organisation for orchid growers, amateur and professional. It encourages the growing of orchids, trains and accredits orchid judges and organises and underwrites Congresses. Brentwood and District Talking Newspaper provides a service for the blind and partially sighted in the area. Every week a digest of news from the local paper is recorded and sent to our listeners on computer memory sticks. We also produce a periodic audio magazine - 'Sounds of Brentwood' - and a recording from the council's own magazine 'Vision'.

Arranges a programme of lectures and excursions each year in accord with our interests in local history, archaeology, architecture and natural history and occasionally on related topics. Publishes approximately three-yearly a journal containing a number of articles mainly on local topics but including an account of our activities during the period covered together with an account of our finances.

This fund raises money for the children of our school (4-11 year old) to benefit. We take on projects ie book fairs, christmas cards, photos, fundraising events and much more. The money is used for enhancing the children's experiences and education.

The Woodhouse Educational Foundation regularly requests claims from the parents of children living in the village who are having difficulty paying for school uniform, books, educational equipment etc.Information as to how to apply is provided in the village newsletter. The village school is also consulted in case it has particular needs.
