The society exists to promote the study of any aspect of the history of Lancashire and Cheshire. Charity originally set up to help with costs of "apprenticing of children of the village" (Harborough Magna)"Previously have made one off grants to help individuals within the village/parish with the costs of books/equipment for children/students or those on an apprenticeship. Have also assisted the local village "Early Birds" pre -school nursery with certain projects such as leavers books.

Meetings for members during the year, these include interesting talks on various subjects ie local area history, film slides of early Sleaford and social get together for all members. A new lease for Muncaster Parish Hall is being drafted. The Trust has has continued a number of popular community events including music, drama and film shows at Muncaster Parish Hall with grant support. Reserves are being consolidated to permit repainting and repair.

two aims: firstly, to increase the knowledge of the history of our town and we publish annually a Bulletin of Research. This information can also be accessed on the Local Studies computer at the Library . Secondly, we hold monthly meetings open to the public where lecturers provide illustrated lectures on a variety of stimulating historical topics.
