School fund-raising

Guiding activities for girls aged 7 - 10

We provide additional resources for the school that benefit the children's education. This is achieved through raising money from various fundraising events aimed at the children, parents and friends of parents at the school. Events are mainly run in the school with some external events run via outside organisations.

advances the education of women and girls in important local and national political and social issues, music, drama and other cultural subjects, agriculture, crafts, home economics, science, health and social welfare; promotes sustainable development; advances health and advances citizenship by promoting civic responsibility and volunteering.

Scout Group with a Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer Section open to both boys and girls. Weekly meetings led by all volunteers. Activities range from camping and hiking to games, fund-raising for other charities, learning life skills, badgework and numerous other fun things.

Unit of the Sea Cadet Corps, with about 50 cadets, boys and girls, aged 10 to 18, who meet twice a week in the evenings for training and who sail on Saturday mornings in the summer. The aims are to encourage young people towards responsible adulthood. The Royal Navy provides uniforms and some training and operates a rigorous inspection system. Each unit is an independent charity.

Relieve the suffering of women and girl victims of violence in conflict zones, promote their human rights and enhance their possibilties of seeking justice, and those of Women Human Rights Defenders in that context. Current activities include the presentation of the annual Anna Politkovskaya Award, to honour Anna Politkovskaya, a Russian human rights defender and journalist, murdered in 2006.

EBA raises funds for this purpose through different activities like conducting online courses in the UK, launching fundraising events, and community partnerships.

The charity furthers its purposes for the public benefit through activities, projects or services like; Community Engagement, Crisis funding for families and individuals, Social engagement, the UCOMM Newsletter, and projects like; The Girl Child, The Great Tackle, The Sausage Project, delivered in the recent past and intended to continue, and more future projects as per community needs.

Girlguiding Millbrook district provides opportunities for girls and young women to develop into confident, tolerant and caring people who contribute positively to the community. These opportunities are delivered and administered by the adult leaders, all of whom are volunteers and willingly give their time.
