For the public benefit, to promote and protect the physical and mental health of young people engaged in sports clubs and sporting environments at all levels, with a focus on club rugby through making grants to support mental health work, related issues and initiatives and working with other organisations and partners to raise awareness of mental health, provide insight and support improvement.

Tynedale Lions act to support the local community both by the provision of grants to community organisations and charities active within its area and directly assisting them in their activities. A "Men's Shed", targeted at relieving isolation of men within the area, opened in March 2019. Support also offered to Lions Club International Foundation humane initiatives in disaster areas.
