Brass band undergoing live performances of music from all genres of music in contest and concert venues.

The charity continues to provide accomodation for community activities - adult education classes; lifestyle activities; samba band, mixed community choir, youth choir and public music performances (Vocal and instrumental) and drama. Piano examination preparation for school age pupils.Conference facilities.

Gwent Arts in Health (GARTH) promotes and develops an arts and health programme for the patients and general public in healthcare and community settings throughout the Gwent area. GARTH was founded to ensure that the benefits of creative programmes within healthcare settings could be developed across all hospitals and health facilities in the Gwent area.

It provides grants of money, clothing, equipment or otherwise for the playing of rugby union football in particular or other sports or games to promote healthy recreation, social and economic welfare with the object of improving health and conditions of life for persons who are under the age of 21 years.

To grant monies to assist ordained ministers of religion to enable them to have a holiday.

To promote road safety awareness in affiliation with the Institute of Advanced Motorists.To train and encourage motorcyclists in advanced riding techniques and safe riding

To provide items and funds for projects which add to the visitor experience at Llancaiach Fawr Manor House - a living history museum set in 1645 during the English Civil War.

Fund raising events, subscriptions, sponsorship, grants sought, gift aid, investment income and deposit interest raised an income of £3,150 before expenses. Grants were made totalling £2,000.

Girlguiding

Conducting projects to raise awareness of maternal health and foetal well-being by the provision of maternal aids and relieving the suffering of people who have experienced the loss of a child by bringing bereaved parents together and providing practical support and information to them.

Promoting road safety through improving driving standards and preparing candidates for the Advanced Driving Test

Arts, Educational and Advice to promote the development and extension of the use of the local publicly run library

The Group aims to protect and study badgers, and where necessary offers assistance in dealing with the problems they may cause

1. to act as a resource for young people living in Cefn Hengoed and Hengoed and the surrounding area by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities.

Improving the physical conditions for thyroid cancer patients receiving treatment at Velindre hospital, Cardiff. Developing gardens outside treatment rooms to provide a pleasant outlook for patients. A mural to provide an interesting view for patients. Providing information booklets for patients. Raising funds for new projects that will benefit thyroid cancer patients specifically.

Side by Side provides support to all those with long term conditions, disabilities and/or additional needs through the medium of music at weekly choir rehearsals. Our members are made up of people with illnesses, disabilities and/or additional needs, carers, friends and family and everyone seems to enjoy themselves whilst at each rehearsal.

The charity provides an annual series of lectures on local history, exhibitions of photographs, organizes trips to places of historic importance and takes part in several conferences in the area. We hold, bi-annually, a very successful open day, in conjunction with the new borough museum.
