We make grants to individuals in distress and in need and to organisations which operate within the boundaries of Horbury. Each request is individually assessed by the Trust.

Own and operate the textile heritage centre at 6 Queen Street, Skelmanthorpe for the benefit of the public at large and education establishments in particular. Guided tours can be arrange and we are also open during national heritage events.

To promote the public appreciation and understanding of the arts by the support, maintenance and advancement of the charitable work of the City Varieties Music Hall.

Provision of horse riding facilities for disabled persons

The Charity has received a large legacy payment and is managing the invested funds to support the needs of young people under the age of 16 in the West Yorkshire area that are suffering from cancer.

We are a community brass band and help local community groups with their fundraising activities. We provide our members with free instruments and tuition.

To make grants to individuals no more than 24 years of age at the first grant (but with power to continue the grants to 26 years) resident within the area of Wakefield Metropolitan Council where such individuals need grants for the payment of certain fees, outfits, travelling or maintenance expenses for their advancement in life or to enable them to earn their living.

The advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the Basis of Faith, primarily, but not exclusively, within Wakefield and the surrounding neighbourhood.

The Wheelers & Wobblers are a self-funded, volunteer led disabled sports and social charity that meet on Wednesday in Cluntergate Community Centre, Horbury. We provide various fun events, chair exercises, arts & crafts and games to keep us active and provide training for many competitions in sports including bowls, boccia, snooker and table-tennis. We also have a full programme of wellbeing events

Stepping Stones Baby Bank provide support to families experiencing difficulties due to hardship and poverty within the Wakefield and West Yorkshire area. We do this by providing essential items and equipment to families and mothers to be that are identified as being in need. These families are identified by health/social professionals and other agencies.

FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES MAINLY THROUGH SCHOOLS FAYRES, DISCOS AND SPONSORED EVENTS. ALL THE FUNDS ARE TO BENEFIT THE PUPILS AT NIELDS SCHOOL

Education of the public and members of the regiment in the history and military accomplishments of the regiment by public exhibition of the collection in a museum. Restoration, conservation, repair, reconstruction and preservation of objects in the collection.

Befriending, social and respite holidays for people with learning difficulties.

Supporting the education of the children of Friends of Flushdyke Junior and Infants schoolPromoting good relationships between parents, teachers and children at the SchoolProviding grants to the school to improve facilities and opportunities for the children.

Donations received from members and grants made where deemed appropriate

The Yorkshire Indian Society through its members organize large scale banquet dinners annually to raise funds to help allow the Charitable Trust to meet its objectives. This involves getting together local Yorkshire and Indian-based residents and support and sponsorship from businesses to help make the event highly successful. An attendance of over 500 people from various backgrounds is the norm.

The Society organises an annual Music Festival of mostly competitive classes held in 3 or 4 venues in the seaside town of Hornsea over a period of either 3 or 4 days. It is held during the first week of July. Fund raising social events such as Coffee Mornings and Garden Parties may be held at other times throughout the year.

Friends of Holy Trinity exists to provide enhanced resources and educational provision at Holy Trinity Primary School and to offer fun social opportunities to the families of children in school. This year we have held a number of social events including, quiz night, summer fayre and Christmas fayre and make significant financial contributions to school resources.

To promote the development of psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Yorkshire by: Offering bursaries to trainees. Promoting educational & public events & colloborating with other organisations eg Opera North, Northern School of Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy.

Band & choir who rehearse weekly to enable our organisation to perform concerts to raise money for other charities. Develop social skills of young people through training & performance.

Lecture programmes of historical interest subject particularly relating to the Wakefield & Yorkshire area. Summer season visits to places of historical interest. Encourages research into matters of historical interest particularly in the Wakefield and Yorkshire areas.
