York Literature Festival provides an annual literature festival and other associated events for the public benefit.

The prevention or relief of poverty in York and surrounding area for the public benefit by providing grants, items and services to individuals in need and / or charities or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

The Charity provides 7 homes for residents in peaceful, maintained gardens.Residents live rent free and make a modest contribution towards heating bills and the fabric. Each unit has an allotment if required. The Charity is independent and receives no regular financial help.Local organizations have helped with renovation and restoration programs.

Finding legal support for asylum seeker applications and supporting refugees to obtain the right to remain and or gain citizenship. We assist refugees applying for benefits and emergency housing.We maintain and develop links with donors to provide household items and clothing for refugee households in York and partners in Bradford, Wakefield and Hull.

The Royal Air Forces Association is incorporated by Royal Charter and its objects are the promotion and welfare of those who are serving or have served in Her Majesty's Royal Air Force and the air forces of the Commonwealth and their dependants by the establishment and maintenance of an organisation for their benefit.

The Choir uses historical research into performing styles and practices in use at the time of composition as the basis for its own performances, usually a series of six concerts held in York

Pupose of the charity is to raise income from the Mark Lodges within Yorkshire North & East Yorkshireand apply that income to the benefit of;a) Distressed Mark Mason's, their widows or other family membersb) To assist other Masonic Charities including the Mark Grand Charityc) To support other charitable institutions within the Province of Yorkshire North & East Yorkshire.

An after school and holiday club for children aged 3-11.

Beavers and Cubs enjoy playing games making new friends, going on visits and helping others. There is a badge scheme to reward them for trying new things or improving in existing activities.Scouts activities include camping, climbing, canoeing, cycling, hiking, dry skiing, 1st Aid, Scout Craft, Parades, Community, Drama,photography & many other things to help develop young peoples talents.

Support services for the scout groups on the southern side of the city of York.

The orchestra's aim is to give amateur musicians in York and the surrounding area the opportunity to rehearse and perform works from the orchestral repertoire. It is particularly keen to encourage younger players, and many of its soloists are young musicians with links to York.

York Opera stages two major productions each year and a number of small concerts and workshops mainly in York but also covering North and East Yorkshire in schools,churches, village halls etc.

The purpose of Out of Character is to promote social inclusion among people who are socially excluded from society, or parts of society by reason of mental illness, in particular by:- providing theatre opportunities to adults who use or have used mental health services.-promoting an understanding of mental illness through the use of theatre

Mosque and Islamic Teachings

We provide long term rental homes and ongoing support to victims of human trafficking and/or modern slavery. The homes currently used by the charity are based in Yorkshire, UK.

Funds organisations working with adults, up to 10 miles of York city centre that provide self development opportunities unavailable in childhood; or that provide opportunities that encompass basic education, open horizons, develop confidence and allow examination of beliefs/ideas; or provide opportunities to develop ideas of community, concern for others, and put to them into action.

TO ISSUE LUMP SUM GRANTS MAINLY TO EXISTING CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS WITHIN THE CITY OF YORK, PARTICULARLY THOSE THAT ARE INTRINSIC TO THE CITY, BUT MAY ALSO INCLUDE INDIVIDUALS WORKING IN THE CITY FOR THE BENEFIT OF ITS CITIZENS WHO ARE NOT THEMSELVES REGISTERED AS A CHARITY. GRANTS ARE MADE TO HELP PEOPLE RATHER THAN THE ENVIRONMENT.

The charity is responsible for the maintainance and upkeep of Dunnington Reading Room which is the Village Hall for the village of Dunnington.
