In 2008 St Columba's URC Church gave the equivalent of -ú35,000 by providing modern office facilities for a number of charities which serve the people of York and District. The charity encourages the provision of new services, and also shapes the delivery of existing services, for sanctuary seekers, principally through the application in Hull and East Riding of national City of Sanctuary schemes which accredit those organisations which meet the schemes' criteria. The charity also co ordinates and facilitates the delivery of Hull Refugee Week in the same locality.
