The object of the ISSDP is to advance education for the public benefit into the effects of drug policy through the undertaking of study and research and the publication and dissemination of the useful results thereof. The Charity established itself during the summer of 2011 and accepted donations from supporters who wished to provide financial assistance to the athletes of Kiribati who were training for the Olympic Games to be held in London in 2012 .
