YOUNG PEOPLE ENJOY LEARNING BY DOING, PARTICIPATE IN VARIED AND PROGRESSIVE ACTIVITIES, MAKE CHOICES FOR THEMSELVES, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS, WORK IN GROUPS, TAKE INCREASING RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS, AND TAKE PART IN ACTIVITIES OUTDOORS.

THE ROTARY CLUB OF MAGHUL AND AUGHTON OPERATES FOR GENERAL CHARITABLE PURPOSESFOR THE RELIEF OF POVERTY AND TO HELP CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND THE ELDERLY BY MAKING GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS, GROUPS, SCHOOLS AND OTHER CHARITIES.

A choir which number 64 persons +. We perform concerts of sacred music twice per year. We charge a fee to attend but members subs subsidize costs. We use a profession organist, orchestra and conductor.

Provides public live orchestral and choral/orchestral concerts employing a wide repertoire. Gives local amateur and semi-professional musicians the opportunity to play together. Encourages the appreciation of classical/light classical music. Provides opportunities for young people to develop musical and listening skills. Works with other musical, educational and community groups on joint projects.

Scout and associated groups activities

A community of people who seek to put the teaching of Jesus into practice every day. We study the Bible and pray together and provide support and practical help for a wide variety of people in the local community including cooking meals and other practical assistance. We support a debt counselling service and homeless support work.

Rotary Club

The charity aims to advance public appreciation of brass band music and the playing of brass instruments by providing opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to make music together and to perform at concerts, contests and other musical events.

Providing young people with various activities through the Scout Association.

Annual Tented Village Show held 1st Saturday in July, talks and events held throughout the year to promote the advancement of education in horticulture.

The Charity provides benefits to the School not normally provided by the Local Education Authority. It also provides grants to promote the education of persons who are pupils or former pupils of the School who are under the 25 years of age. If income permits, grants are also given to persons under 25 years of age who are resident or who have a parent resident in the area of benefit.

Founded in 1717 for the purpose is providing financial support to the School and Pupils of Thornton Cleveleys Baines School. Under the provisions of The Charities Act 1993 a new scheme came into effect on 19 May 1998. The new scheme gives the trustees extended powers in relation to application of income but essentially the charity remains committed to the benefit of the Thornton Baines school.

Activities are to conserve, protect and improve Primrose Lodge, and the streams/watercourses of the Mearley Brook catchment for the advancement of environmental protection/improvement for the benefit of the public and its recreational use. Also to advance the education and understanding of its flaura/fauna and biodiversity, and the need for/benefits of its conservation/protection.
