The purpose of the hall is to provide a place where residents of Thirsk & Sowerby can meet for cultural, recreational and charitable purposes. The Town Hall Management Committee are responsible for the day to day running of the building and for its long term well being. The Management committee aims to provide first class facilities at affordable cost to groups serving the community.

Helmsley Community Library provides library services including books, audio books, DVD's and computers based in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. The library also hosts and organises learning activities, workshops and events for the community.

To raise and disburse charity and welfare grants/funds according to the Constitution of Lions Clubs International and the rules of the Charity Commissioners. To be involved in community activities and projects. To be active locally, nationally and internationally in respect of the aforementioned activities.

Maintain, manage and promote, sports playing field, children's play area, public toilet facilities, including disabled access, and use of the Village Hall buildings for community activities.

We are an arts based charity holding and exhibiting the life works of Michael and Eileen Scott. We have a permanent gallery with open days to the public and regular exhibitions, we present an annual Emerging Artist Award and are in collaboration with Yorkshire based arts providers to facilitate arts based projects in the local community

Ripon and District U3A provides a structure and network within National and International U3A Organisation to enable continued learning for people who are no longer in full time employment.

The Charity raises funds from the public to disburse to Local ,National and International Charities.

Scouting - Beavers,Cubs & Scouts & Squirrels

Support services to those who suffer from heart related illness including heart attack, stroke, heart failure, heart surgery etc.We hold weekly supervised exercise and relaxation classes and we endeavour to supply practical support and encouragement.

The charity existing to improve the facilities for the children and with that in mind we organise our fundraising so that the students can be involved such as: Summer/Christmas Fairs, Discos and Treasure Hunts.

To promote the education of children, young persons and the general public and to improve the quality of life of all such persons by providing sporting and recreational facilities for the communityof Wear Valley and other surrounding districts.

The main purpose of the WI organisation is to enable women who are interested in issues associated with rural life, including arts, crafts and sciences, to improve and develop conditions of rural life, to advance their education in citizenship, in public questions both national and international, in music, drama and other cultural subjects and in all branches of agriculture, handicrafts, home eco.

PROVIDING ACCESSIBLE ENVIRONMENT (Village Hall & NEW Annexe) FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS TO MEET FOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND LEARNING FACILITIES.

Beavers and Cubs enjoy playing games making new friends, going on visits and helping others. There is a badge scheme to reward them for trying new things or improving in existing activities.Scouts activities include camping, climbing, canoeing, cycling, hiking, dry skiing, 1st Aid, Scout Craft, Parades, Community, Drama,photography & many other things to help develop young peoples talents.

Playing Field charity supporting local, rural sports activities within the village. these amenties include:Football (Adult Team) and (2 Children's Teams)Cricket (one teams)BowlsTennisMUGA (multi use games area)

CARE OF AND RESCUE, REHABILITATION AND RE - HOME OF ABANDONED, NEGLECTED OR ABUSED GUINEA PIGS. GIVE SANCTUARY FOR THOSE DEEMED UNSUITABLE FOR REHOME DUE TO AGE, ILL HEALTH OR DISABILITY. PROMOTE IMPROVED CARE AND WELFARE OF SMALL ANIMALS VIA EDUCATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC. PROVIDE FREE ADVICE AND INFORMATION FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC BY HOLDING AND ATTENDING PUBLIC EVENTS TO IMPROVE ANIMAL WELFARE.

Dancing for all ages and standards, exercise & self defence classes, youth group, dog training, art classes, baby group, book swap and natter group, WI, private hire and fund raising.

The charity is part of the scouting movement. It provides group activities for girls and boys - including experiences not always available in other parts of their lives. New skills are learned and leadership qualities encouraged.

The Crossgates Community Centre is available for the community to hire for a variety of activities. The hall comprises of a sports hall, smaller meeting/conference room and kitchen. Regular users hire the hall for weekly craft activities, bowling, badminton, keep fit and youth groups, but it is also available for hire for parties/celebrations and table top sales.

Amateur Dramatics

We seek to further the understanding and appreciation of choral music with an emphasis on male voices. We offer concerts to support othercharities in raising funds whilst, at the same time, bringing a wider audience to the experience of listening to Male Voice choirs. We join with other Male Voice choirs throughout our region to enhance the quality of the music and increase membership.
