THE CHARITY RAISES MONEY TO BUY EQUIPMENT AND PAY FOR TRAINING FOR PRE-HOSPITAL PRACTITIONERS IN THE LANCASHIRE AND MANCHESTER AREAS OF THE UK TO ENABLE THEM TO VOLUNTEER THEIR SERVICES TO THIS AIM AS WELL AS COORDINATING THEIR GOVERNANCE AND TRAINING.

The charity administers and funds the Percival J. Hay Memorial Prize which is awarded for a critical essay or paper in the field of ophthalmology, which may or may not have been published. The winner receives a certificate and a small sum of money. It also funds an annual memorial lecture in the field. Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic the charity has had no expenses since April 2020.

Used by local residents as a recreational area Whitehead Hall Meadow is kept as natural as possible but there is a formal area at its centre. A pond, constructed footpaths and desire lines through the site are provided with seating areas where people can rest or sit and chat. The aim of the trustees has been to try to increase the biodiversity of the site while maintaining all year round access.

This charity has no 'activities' as such. It was created to carry funds generated from the sale of school/church - owned land, many years ago. The income is used by the school governors, along with other funds raised/donated to discharge the financial obligations of the governors - mainly annual insurance premiums and some building repair costs.

Obtaining funding and working on projects that will enhance the Wigan Flashes Nature Reserve, and the nearby Lightshaw Water Meadows Reserve, (parts of The Flashes of Wigan and Leigh National Nature Reserve) for both wildlife and the public.
