The purpose of The is to raise funds for, support and promote Valence School. Valence School is a Local Authority maintained Special Boarding and Day School for Children and Young People with Physical Disabilities Complex Medical Needs and Associated Learning Difficulties. The funds help provide for extra curricular activities, prizes and gifts for the students and capital projects for the school.

The Africa College Foundation (UK) works to advance and promote learning and education at or in connection with the Maharishi Invincibility Institute (MII) in South Africa and elsewhere through the provision of grants of financial assistance. These funds are then used to mainly provide grants for the benefit of those in need in the local community.

Fundraising within the local community

Open Door supports a homelessness night shelter and daytime drop-in for vulnerable people in St Albans. Set up in 1992, the charity aims to ensure that no-one needs to sleep rough in St Albans and generally to improve the life chances of homeless people. Our main activities are to raise funds, primarily from the local community, to support and improve the service and to promote volunteering.

Our support is directed principally towards Adonai Family Uganda, a Ugandan NGO. AFU has two main spheres of work: a Child Development Centre (Primary School and accomodation); community based projects e.g. micro-finance initiatives, youth work and family related training courses. We find sponsors for needy children, raise funds to support the other initiatives, visit to volunteer our services.

To raise funds which are donated to The Holt School to help provide additional facilities for students. Examples are: the fitting out of new technology classrooms; provision of new dining hall furnishings and canteen equipment; additional IT equipment and new classroom facilities.

The charity continues to raise money for the repair, restoration and redecoration of this 12th Century Parish Church in the 900th year of its foundation.
