The main purposes of the Women's Institute Organisation are to enable women who are interested in issues associated with rural life, to improve and develop conditions of rural life, to advance their education in citizenship, in public questions, in music, drama and other cultural subjects and in agriculture, handicrafts, home economics, health and social welfare.

We provide a weekly programme encouraging the development of high standards of art in photography via lectures, demonstrations, workshops and competitions. Babel Hall is an important focal point for a rural community in an area of small hill farms where there are three chapels but no shop, public house, church or other public meeting place. The hall serves as a venue for whist drives, talks, St. David's Day cawl, local Eisteddfodau, Christmas parties, bingo nights, games nights, meetings and other activities associated with a community hall.

Meetings are held on a regular basis throughout the year. The programme throughout the year included talks, meetings and visits. Socially throughout the year members have organised interclub nights and a summer do. Involvement in the local community has entailed carol singing and the Grand Draw and Whist Drive at Christmas and also promoting YFC.
