Khandel Light was founded by Dr Peter Gough in 2000 after a visit to India. The charity works with Nirman Sanstha NGO in Khandel, Rajasthan, India to help the poorest families in this and surrounding villages with relief from drought, poverty, sickness, illiteracy and distress. In addition it helps to promote advancement in education and health education in this region of rural deprivation.

We are a Barnsely based organisation who coordinate the teaching of basic skills teaching ESOL, Maths, Literacy and ICT to Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Migrants and Local young people who need these skills to help further their education and Employment. We support people between the ages of 17 and 50.

The charity provides the following activities. (1) Employability project:- for refugee women providing jobsearch skills, interview techniques information session and holding an open day.
