The charity's activity is to manage the facility known as Hungarton Millennium Green, which was established in 2000, with the aim of creating a wildlife & conservation area with free public access, adjacent to an established village park. General maintenance work is carried out by the community. Income to cover outsourced maintenance & annual insurance costs come from village fundraising events.

The SNCV carries out practical habitat management to improve and enhance areas of natural greenspace for local communities. Through our volunteer programme, people from a variety of backgrounds can gain practical work experience by learning new skills. Volunteers have the opportunity to meet new people, improve fitness as well as learning about wildlife conservation.

Initially we will transform 6 acres of wetland and Alder carr into a nature reserve. We will fix fences, plant hedges and trees, survey for biodiversity and do pond dipping. We will excavate new ponds and remove invading scrub. We will acquire additional land to establish new nature reserves as opportunities arise.
