The charity works in the areas of historical and practical maritime research and archaeology.

support of the archaeological fieldwork at the site of Ziyaret Tepe; support of post excavation work such as writing up and associated research; publication of reports; delivery of lectures on this work to both academic audiences and the wider public; outreach work in schools and in conjunction with the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge; raising the funds necessary to support the above activities.

The Stan Owen Heritage Trust exists to award small grants to advance education for the public benefit in the history, heritage, archaeology and culture of Northumberland. The Trust may assist the funding of a plan or project in a museum or heritage centre, a location, building or institution, or the copying of material such as photographs, postcards, documents or diaries for archive purposes.

To advance the education of the public in the history and archaeology of the River Thames and surrounding area by the establishment and maintenance of a museum

To advance the education of the public in the archaeological heritage and ancient cultures of the Zagros mountains, in particular but not exclusively by supporting university-based work in the UK on post-excavation research, writing up excavation results, including the costs of engagement of specialists, translation, travel, maintenance, equipment and scientific analyses (such as C14 dating)

The charity organises training to enable anyone, regardless of age, ability or experience, to gain the skills that will enable them to confidently and responsibly explore the past. This is achieved by running a series of weekend training courses on all practical aspects of archaeology from carrying out geophysical surveys to interpreting finds. In addition the charity runs a training excavation.

The objects are to educate the public about the medieval presence in Occitane and the Cathar and Jewish presence in the UK including promoting research in the subject and dissemination of that research to the wider public

Supports archaeological research, publication, conservation and presentation in Crete and Cyprus, with special reference to the Bronze Age sites of Myrtos- Pyrgos, Crete, and Maroni-Vournes, Cyprus.

To conserve and preserve our national archaeological heritage including:1. To advance the education of the public in the subject of metal detecting to archaeological principles.2. To assist in such ways as the charity trustees think fit in supporting the recording and preservation of discovered portable antiques.3. To identify and conserve new discoveries of an archaeological nature.

ARKEN is an independent not for profit charity founded to promote the study of archaeological remains through the exchange of archaeological knowledge. We provide specialist services and volunteer opportunities.
