Lawrence House is a grade II listed building, owned by the National Trust and leased to Launceston Town Council for the provision of a museum of local history. The museum is run by volunteers and there is no charge for admission.

The Trust is constituted to maintain conserve and display to the public the following historical properties: Wortley Top Forge, Rockley Engine House, Rockley Furnace, Bower Spring Cementation Furnace, Hoylandswaine Nail Forge. (All South Yorkshire) There is also a collection of historical engines and other machinery at Wortley. Wortley has working waterwheels and has regular guided tours.

We have a programme that is wide and varied provided by 29 interest groups. It ranges from history, classical music, antiques and collectibles, bowls, bridge, soft tennis, gardening, theatre visits, walking and wine appreciation, the latter activity boasts three separate groups which says as much about conviviality as oenology! We cater for 258 members.

Baroque In The North is a period-instrument ensemble specialising in performances of 17th-18th century music. Their concerts and recordings provide professional performance opportunities and work experience for early career performers and recent graduates. They work closely with local choirs, and deliver workshops aimed at young people, students, graduates, music teachers and amateurs.

Museum collecting artefacts, information, pictures and photographs relating to the history of Brightlingsea and the surrounding area. Providing exhibitions in relation to the history of the town and research facilities for children and adults in connection with the latter.

To tell the public about the history and current activites of the peace movemement and to support the creation of a national peace museum

To advance the public education in the history and culture of Abergavenny and surrounding area in particular by supporting Abergavenny Museum and Castle. Projects include our blue plaques trail, guided walks, town centre street survey, oral history, publication of books and a DVD. We organise lectures and visits programmes, give talks and give grants to local school children and students.

The Society aims to encourage high standards of architecture and town planning in the township of Horbury; to stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the town and its surroundings; and to encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest.
