Heritage Charities That specialise in History

On July 11 2014 we opened as a museum we made BBC Central News on several occasions. Our last appearance was Inside Out February 2019.We work with local schools, scouts, U3A etc. Within the museum we have photographs, artefacts showing past mining equipment and the social history of a mining village.We have done outreach at Bestwood, Mansfield, Pleasley, Langwith, Rufford and Newark.

To advance the knowledge of local history of the Borough of Cricklade, Wiltshire, including the Parishes of Latton, Down Ampney, Marston Meysey, Kempsford, Ashton Keynes, Castle Eaton and The Leigh.

1.TO PROMOTE THE RESTORATION, PRESERVATION, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF SHEFFIELD MANOR LODGE AS A SITE OF HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE AND ARCHITECTURAL VALUE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC2. TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE HISTORY OF SHEFFIELD MANOR LODGE

We provide a series of lectures given by speakers from October to May each season, open to both members and the public at large, together with displays at local venues throughout the year. Several members carry out their own research into local history and family history, give lectures on their findings, and publish their research.

THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY THE FURTHERANCE OF THE STUDY OF THE HISTORY OF THE MILITARY LIFE OF THE VICTORIAN ERA, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE BRITISH ARMY AND THE ARMIES OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE. THE PERIOD COVERED IS BETWEEN 1837 AND 1914. THE SOCIETY IS INVOLVED IN LECTURES, EXHIBITIONS AND ASSISTANCE WITH RESEARCH BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC INTO FAMILY HISTORY.

Research local history and publish the results. Run a programme of talks on topics of local interest. Monitor transport developments and lobby for improvements. Monitor local planning and licensing applications, commenting where necessary. Support projects designed to improve the economy, environment and amenity of Herne Hill. Disseminate information about Herne Hill.

Promotes the study of local historical demography and associated topics by promoting education and research in these fields. Publishes the journal 'Local Population Studies' and other occasional publications, and organises conferences for members and wider audiences. Offers a book club to encourage the reading of material relevant to local historical demography.

Lonarc Foundation sets out to research, edit, publish, rehearse, record and perform the wind chamber works from the mid-late 18th Century. To advance education in the as yet little known works for oboe trio and wind ensemble. By sponsoring 'Free to Public' concerts, workshops and commissioning from contemporary composers, LF aims to engage people, of all ages, with the joy of wind chamber music.

The Friends of Raymond was founded in 1996 to rebuild and preserve nb Raymond - the last wooden narrowboat built in the UK. She was built in 1958 at Barlows yard, Braunston and is of great historical importance and is registered in the National Historic Ships register. The charity displays and maintains the boat alongside its motor boat - Nutfield - which is also owned by the charity.

The advancement of education of the public with regard to the historic diocese and county of Worcester, and in particular to publish and disseminate original material relating thereto. Activities include the publishing and distribution of historic texts, lectures, book launchs and the maintenance of a web site.

The activities to be carried out by the Charity involve raising funds for and then erecting of a memorial in Salisbury (in the form of a replica Spitfire aircraft) to those men and women who secretly built Spitfire aircraft in various locations in Salisbury, Wiltshire, during World War II. The Charity will educate the public on the history of Spitfire construction in Salisbury.

Braunton & District Museum acquires, holds, secures & maintains objects & documents pertaining to the maritime, agricultural & social history of the village of Braunton & its surrounding area. We act as a historical resource centre for the local public, schools & visitors to Braunton.

To work towards improving housing conditions for people of West Indian origin. To encourage good relations between the differenct races. To study and explore the history and cultural customs by the indigenous population and bring the two communites together to form a better understanding. To improve West Indian cultural arts and crafts.

Haverhill Local History Museum exists to collect, house, preserve and interpret the history of Haverhill and its surrounding district. The Group also provides a means for the general public to access this local archive material in the Haverhill Local History Museum.
