Grants are made towards repairs and conservation of Lastingham Church, together with purchases to enhance its facilities. Activities include general education about its history and activities. Fund-raising events included the traditional Lastingham Lecture and other lectures, garden parties and concerts.

The committee organises lectures on the history of England and Japan, paintings and music of both countries, talks on current affairs, outings to visit historical buildings and churches. The Association keeps close touch with other women's associations. Study and teaching

We provide education and training in the techniques of family history research. We encourage the conservation of documents and structures, which record details of social and family history. We sponsor and provide volunteers to undertake research into such documents and thereby act as an umbrella or resource body.

The Chapels Society seeks to foster public interest in and knowledge of the architectural and historical importance of all places of worship and their related structures in the United Kingdom, loosely described as Nonconformist.
