Running a Baptist church to serve the community of Henley on Thames and environs

This Church exists to:- bring people into God's family by sharing the Good News of Jesus, working closely with the local community, through the Town Council- encourage their growth through small groups, for sharing, teaching and training in God's Word- equip them for ministry and mission, by seeking to meet their needs and- all for God's glory and pleasure.

Promotes use and understanding of the Book of Common Prayer centrally to worship and doctrine of the Church of England (and other Anglican tradition Churches) and its use for regular worship including main Sunday services and occasional services e.g. Baptism, Confirmation, weddings, funerals. Works to ensure that all ordinands are familiar with it and to introduce it to children and young people.

Emmanuel Group of Churches as three ecumenical Christian congregations engages in a wide variety of activites including worship and prayer, youth & community work incl. funded part-time youth worker and care worker, using our premises to host community groups e.g. weight watchers and an NHS health group, asian men's and asian women's groups, family tots and a number of other churches.(see report)

This has been a year of less overt activity after 5 years of intense fundraising. Significant assistance has been provided to several girl choristers enabling them to remain in the choir. With the consent of The Chairty Commission, the objects of the Trust have been amended so that it can now support both boy and girl choristers. From 1st August 2011 it is The Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust.

The PCC's charitable objects ('Promoting in the ecclesiastical parish the whole mission of the Church') areprimarily focused on the advancement of religion, which is recognised as a charitable purpose havingpublic benefit. All regular public worship is provided free of charge and open to all.

The charity provides buildings for regular public worship open to everyone. Members of the charity are engaged in visiting the sick and bereaved. The whole mission of the Christian church is promoted through the provision of activities for senior citizens, local young people, parents and toddlers and other special needs groups and through the support of other charities in the UK and overseas.

St Martin's Church has the responsibility of promoting the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelical and social. The PCC also has specific responsibility for maintenance of the church buildings.

The Church exists to witness the good news of the God made known in Jesus Christ. St Peter's seeks to be open to God and relevant to the needs of the neighbourhood.
