To organise outings, both in the United Kingdom and abroad, entertainment, transport and other support for any serviceman or woman who is a veteran of the Armed Forces. To assist in the care of former servicemen and women who are disabled, elderly, infirm, impoverished, lonely or otherwise in need of charitable assistance by making grants of money for providing or paying for items or services.

ELF aims to lighten the load by supporting families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders across the South West.ELF provides transport, a counselling service, accommodation, complementary therapies, a CAB-funded advice and guidance service, legal services through partnership and refreshments for patients and relatives awaiting day case appointments.

The present policy of the Council is to make grants direct to schools to assist towards Sixth Form school fees for students with high academic standards and whose families are experiencing severe financial hardship.

Under the provisions of the governing scheme, income of the Church Fund is paid to the Consistory of The French Protestant Church of London for its purposes, income of the Educational Fund is applied for the promotion of education of persons aged under 25 and income of the Hardship Fund (formerly the Poor Fund) is applied to reduce need, hardship and stress for certain categories of people.
