Our core aim is to raise Literacy Standards in Merthyr Tydfil and the valleys . Poor literacy means that young people do not gain the life chances they deserve and as a result have limited job and career prospects. SAMM is an independent voluntary organisation. We offer help and support to those bereaved as a result of murder or manslaughter. Our volunteers have been similarly bereaved and can share what this feels like. We are also involved in training and research, raising public awareness and increasing the understanding of organisations who work closely with bereaved families.

Home-Start Dover District offers support and friendship to families under stress. Our Core service offers home visiting volunteers to families, in addition to this we run Family Groups that provide additional support to families.

Arms Around The Child is dedicated to children living in adversity, providing homes, medical care & treatment, education, protection, respect, love & support services to children who are orphaned, sexually abused, affected by HIV/AIDS, abandoned, trafficked or living in parentless households in Ghana, SA & India. We support Fund A Mom & offer Volunteer programmes through Vocational Impact.

We visit those held in Yarl's Wood IRC aiming to affirm human dignity and restore self-esteem by listening and offering befriending support.
